Captured near the end of his life, Wilhelm Furtw盲ngler's interpretation of Beethoven's "Eroica" symphony with the Vienna Philharmonic is intensely spiritual and incredibly fluid. The conductor expertly manipulates extreme tempo fluctuations to emphasize the work's revolutionary, dramatic scale. It is widely considered one of the most profound and philosophically searching orchestral recordings of the 20th century.
