Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded entirely using the acoustic horn method before the advent of microphones, this monumental undertaking is one of the earliest complete captures of the formidable Ninth Symphony. The conductor had to drastically rearrange the orchestral seating and utilize stroh violins to ensure the massive choral and instrumental forces registered on the wax cylinder. It represents a staggering logistical achievement in early acoustic audio engineering.
