Album Notes & Community Reviews
The eighth full-length by Baltimore's Lungfish, 'Necrophones' sustains the cyclical, mantra-like structures the quartet of Daniel Higgs, Asa Osborne, Nathan Bell and Mitchell Feldstein had refined since forming in 1988. A definitive document of American post-hardcore in its minimalist strain, it sets Higgs's apocalyptic lyric fragments over single-chord vamps that accumulate force through repetition rather than progression.
