Album Notes & Community Reviews

A unique collaboration arranged and edited by Four Tet, 'Sound Ancestors' organizes Madlib's characteristically eclectic, sample-based productions into a cohesive instrumental hip-hop statement. The album explores a deep lineage of Black music, shifting from raw funk and neck-snapping beats to psychedelic jazz loops and hazy soul passages, all unified by Four Tet's structural guidance.
