Madvillainy

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Madvillainy' is built upon producer Madlib's dense, sample-heavy instrumentals that feature short, unconventional loops drawn from obscure international records. Rapper MF DOOM complements this production with free-associative, intricate rhymes, delivering complex wordplay and multisyllabic patterns in a famously relaxed and mellow flow. The resulting collection of brief, hookless vignettes creates a unique sonic tapestry that eschews traditional song structure and is widely regarded as a landmark achievement in abstract hip-hop.
