Mercurial World

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Magdalena Bay's debut album, 'Mercurial World', is a self-produced work of synth-pop that synthesizes decades of electronic music, blending 80s pop, 90s electronica, and Y2K-era aesthetics into a cohesive whole. Lyrically, the album explores themes of existentialism, the passage of time, and digital-age anxiety, using Mica Tenenbaum's vocals to navigate Matthew Lewin's richly layered production. The record's conceptual ambition is underscored by its structure, which loops from the final track back to the first, creating a continuous and immersive sonic universe.
