Led by drummer Jake Long and featuring prominent members of the thriving London jazz scene (including Nubya Garcia), the collective's debut is a gorgeous homage to 1970s spiritual jazz. The album relies heavily on sweeping, lush string arrangements, rhythmic Afro-beat percussion, and highly emotive, psychedelic flute and saxophone improvisations. It was universally praised as a vital, deeply uplifting cornerstone of the modern British jazz explosion.
