The debut album of Pedro Memelsdorff's ensemble is devoted to the Italian ars subtilior, the rhythmically intricate polyphony written around 1380 to 1410. Memelsdorff, a recorder player and musicologist, built Mala Punica to perform this Trecento repertoire with the rhythmic precision its notation demands.
