Album Notes & Community Reviews

Transitioning smoothly from the abrasive electronics of Soft Cell and the darker edge of his Mambas project, the vocalist embraces a lush, orchestral pop grandeur. 'Stories of Johnny' is heavily indebted to 1960s melodrama and cabaret, anchoring its sound in sweeping string arrangements and commanding, theatrical vocal performances.
