Recorded at Rainbow Studio in Oslo in September 1992 with engineers Jan Erik Kongshaug and Erik Avnskog, 'Goaskinviellja' was arranged and produced collectively by Boine with Roger Ludvigsen, Gjermund Silset, Carlos Zamata Quispe and Helge Andreas Norbakken. Across ten tracks it turns the joik toward a meditative fusion of jazz bass, African and Latin percussion and atmospheric soundscapes, a direction revisited when the album was remastered for a 2025 reissue on By Norse Music.
