Album Notes & Community Reviews

Collaborating with legendary producer Steve Lillywhite, the critically adored songwriter significantly beefed up his 1950s-inspired sound for this sophomore effort. 'Field Day' retains Crenshaw's masterful, Brill Building-esque melodic instincts while burying them under massive, booming drum reverbs and dense layers of modern studio gloss. Although the heavy-handed production divided contemporary critics, the remarkably infectious songwriting has endured to make it a beloved power pop touchstone.
