Album Notes & Community Reviews

Gordy's documentary album preserves the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom of 28 August 1963, sequencing speeches by A. Philip Randolph, Walter Reuther, Roy Wilkins and Whitney M. Young Jr. and Liz Lands singing 'We Shall Overcome' before King's closing 'I Have a Dream' address, delivered on the Lincoln Memorial steps to more than 250,000 people. Rush-released in October 1963 as Gordy 908, it was Motown's second King album that year after 'The Great March to Freedom', and it returned in 2021 as the vinyl reissue that relaunched Motown's Black Forum imprint.
