Album Notes & Community Reviews

'About Ghosts' presents Mary Halvorson leading her Amaryllis sextet, expanded with two guest saxophonists, through compositions that fuse the pre-configured with the improvised. The album, produced by John Dieterich, is characterized by its kaleidoscopic blend of angular rhythms, intricate melodies, and nested instrumental intricacies. Halvorson's compositions balance a thrilling improvisational freedom with a structured, adventurous optimism that aligns the ensemble's dynamic performance.
