Album Notes & Community Reviews
John Zorn's acoustic quartet further refines their radical intersection of fiery, free-blowing jazz and traditional Jewish musical scales on their sixth volume. The lightning-fast, intuitive interplay between Zorn's saxophone and Dave Douglas's trumpet actively pushes the rigid boundaries of conventional melodic structures. It operates continuously as a thrilling, highly kinetic high-wire act of collective improvisation.
