Album Notes & Community Reviews
Captured live at the Vortex Jazz Club in 2009 and released via Central Control International, 'Live in London' pairs alto saxophonist Matana Roberts with British rhythm section players Robert Mitchell (piano), Tom Mason (double bass), and Chris Vatalaro (drums). Highlighted by the twenty-seven-minute opener 'My Sistr' and a rendition of Duke Ellington's 'Oska T', the set blends fiery free jazz spontaneity with deep, bass-driven swing.
