Serving as the band's major-label breakthrough in the Canadian market, this album was recorded at Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver with producer Warne Livesey. It moved away from the folk-rock tendencies of their independent debut, introducing more aggressive distortion and darker, politically charged lyrical content. The record yielded several high-charting radio singles and established Matthew Good as a prominent voice in the late-90s Canadian alternative scene.
