Album Notes & Community Reviews
A seminal album in the power pop genre, 'Girlfriend' is a masterful collection of songs born from personal heartbreak. Matthew Sweet combines crunchy, distorted guitars with irresistibly sweet melodies, creating a sound that is both emotionally raw and incredibly catchy. The album's lyrical themes of love and loss are perfectly complemented by the jangling guitars and layered vocal harmonies, making it a timeless classic of alternative rock.
