Quiet as It's Kept

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Rebounding with a powerful new ensemble after a period of immense personal tragedy, the master drummer debuts a fiercely talented frontline featuring the Turrentine brothers, Stanley and Tommy. The highly arranged, intensely swinging compositions benefit heavily from the leader's distinctively melodic, polyrhythmic drum solos and incredibly sharp, authoritative comping. The session brilliantly re-established his band as one of the premier, most technically advanced units in hard bop.
