Album Notes & Community Reviews
A cult classic and the only official recording of the mysterious and brilliant Philadelphia pianist Hasaan Ibn Ali. Hasaan's style was utterly unique, blending the percussive attack of Monk with the virtuosity of Bud Powell into a rhythmically and harmonically complex language all his own. The intense, telepathic interplay between Hasaan and Max Roach on the rhythmically daring compositions makes this a lost masterpiece of adventurous, hard-swinging post-bop.
