Album Notes & Community Reviews

This album combines Colin Turnbull's two Folkways LPs of Mbuti music, remastered and resequenced to follow his original design, from hunting and gathering songs in the forest to the village repertories of the Nkumbi initiation and Elima societies. The molimo fire-dance songs at its center come from the same 1950s fieldwork that produced Turnbull's ethnography 'The Forest People'.
