Album Notes & Community Reviews

A later and separate Turnbull recording from the Folkways pair, this album of Mbuti music reached an unusually wide public during the 1960s, its influence extending to musicians as diverse as John Coltrane and Brian Eno. Its programme of molimo devotion songs and hunting music documents the Ituri tradition from a different session than the earlier Folkways discs.
