Album Notes & Community Reviews

Gathering pivotal late 1930s and early 1940s sessions originally released as 78 rpm singles, this compilation honors one of the supreme architects of the boogie-woogie style. Meade Lux Lewis delivers thunderous, hypnotic left-hand ostinatos coupled with incredibly complex, rolling right-hand figures. It is an essential archival document capturing the intense, polyrhythmic energy of pre-war blues piano.
