Album Notes & Community Reviews

Showcasing his formidable piano chops without the backing of his usual electric rhythm section, the veteran bluesman delivers a masterclass in driving, left-hand bass figures. The session traces the historical lineage of barrelhouse and boogie-woogie styles, punctuated by spoken introductions that contextualize the material. It remains a foundational document preserving the unadulterated essence of the acoustic piano blues tradition.
