Album Notes & Community Reviews

Continuing her innovative exploration of extended vocal techniques, Monk's avant-garde masterwork employs repetitive, minimalist organs beneath intertwining, wordless choral performances. The title track was originally conceived as part of a multimedia theater piece, reflecting the anxieties of modern urban existence and cold war proliferation. It remains a fascinating, hypnotic highlight of the ECM New Series catalog.
