Album Notes & Community Reviews

For their eighth studio album, Meshuggah opted for a live-in-the-studio recording approach, capturing a more organic and raw energy. 'The Violent Sleep of Reason' is a dense and dizzyingly complex work, even by their standards, filled with dissonant textures and a barrage of aggressive, technical polyrhythms. The album's title, a reference to a Goya painting, reflects its lyrical themes of terrorism, religious extremism, and dogmatism.
