Album Notes & Community Reviews

Setting the stark, surreal poetry of Harold Pinter to complex musical backdrops, Michael Mantler's 'Silence' is an intensely mysterious and anxious avant-prog masterwork. The ambitious arrangements feature the distinct vocal contributions of Kevin Coyne, Robert Wyatt, and Carla Bley. The collision of challenging time signatures and ominous jazz-rock textures perfectly mirrors the psychological weight of the lyrics.
