Album Notes & Community Reviews

'The Ballad of Mauthausen' sets four poems by Iakovos Kampanellis, drawn from his experiences as a prisoner in the Mauthausen concentration camp, in performances sung by Maria Farantouri. The four songs are paired with six further settings of poems by Nikos Gatsos, Dimitris Christodoulou, Gerasimos Stavrou and Tassos Livaditis, a group Theodorakis later renamed the Farantouri Cycle in her honour.
