Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stepping away from his duties with the Modern Jazz Quartet, the preeminent vibraphonist constructs a session focused entirely on the delicate interplay between vibes and flute. The presence of Frank Wess and Bobby Jaspar on woodwinds provides a remarkably airy, cool texture that beautifully contrasts with Jackson's inherently bluesy phrasing. It is a relaxed, highly melodic exploration of specialized instrumental timbres.
