Album Notes & Community Reviews

Co-founder of Weather Report, Czech bassist Miroslav Vitous leads an exceptional quartet featuring John Surman and Kenny Kirkland on this crystalline ECM release. 'First Meeting' emphasizes fluid, spacious group improvisation and delicate harmonic interplay, perfectly capturing the label's signature icy, European aesthetic. It highlights Vitous's virtuosic, highly melodic approach to the upright bass.
