Manning Fireworks

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Manning Fireworks', MJ Lenderman advances his sound with a more refined and layered production that retains a raw, lo-fi edge while incorporating a wide array of instrumentation. His songwriting continues to balance wry, observational humor with a deeper earnestness, exploring themes of failed masculinity, religion, and disillusionment through witty, character-driven vignettes. The album blends gritty indie-rock with Southern-tinged alt-country, marked by both searing guitar solos and sparser, more introspective arrangements, ultimately earning widespread critical acclaim.
