Album Notes & Community Reviews
This commanding 1966 orchestral pairing, famously conducted by Herbert von Karajan with the Berliner Philharmoniker, pairs Ravel's hypnotic, slow-building 'Bolero' with his masterful orchestration of Mussorgsky's piano suite 'Pictures at an Exhibition'. The recording is widely praised for its immense dynamic control, brass precision, and brilliant tonal colors. It stands as a towering display of mid-century symphonic virtuosity.
