Album Notes & Community Reviews

Camae Ayewa branches out significantly from her abstract hip-hop origins, teaming with producer Mental Jewelry for a brutal excursion into early 80s punk and noise-rock. The instrumentation utilizes screeching, repetitive guitar dissonance and heavy, mechanical drum machines akin to Big Black or Suicide. Ayewa's searing spoken-word vocals furiously tackle historical oppression and violent systemic racism.
