Black Encyclopedia of the Air

Serving as her most rhythmically grounded and accessible solo release to date, Camae Ayewa explores the intersections of Afro-futurism, systemic violence, and survival. Recorded in Sweden alongside producer Olof Melander, the project features relatively calm, jazz-inflected drum loops that contrast sharply with her commanding spoken-word delivery. The album successfully channels her usually harsh noise-rap aesthetics into a deeply hypnotic, poetic experience.
