Album Notes & Community Reviews

Camae Ayewa channels centuries of racial trauma and structural oppression into a harrowing, Afrofuturist debut. The record is a terrifying, visceral audio collage, burying archival samples of protest chants and early blues underneath sheets of abrasive industrial noise and aggressive spoken-word poetry. It was universally hailed as an essential, uncompromisingly brutal piece of modern avant-garde protest art.
