Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released as an all-acoustic album to appeal to the 1960s folk revival, 'Folk Singer' presents Muddy Waters in a starkly intimate, unplugged setting that contrasts with his famous electric Chicago blues sound. The session, featuring Buddy Guy on second acoustic guitar and Willie Dixon on upright bass, is celebrated for its audiophile-quality production that captures the power and subtlety of Waters's vocals and the sparse, resonant instrumentation. This return to his Delta roots stands as Waters's only fully acoustic studio album and a landmark 'unplugged' recording.
