Brut Thoughts

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On his third full-length album, “Brut Thoughts,” Murkage Dave offers a starkly intimate survey of the urban psyche. The title’s nod to Brutalism is reflected in the production: a deconstructed fusion of soul-funk and R&B built on skeletal basslines, sparse Rhodes, and atmospheric, concrete textures. Continuing the introspective thread of his earlier work, Dave’s candid lyricism moves from social observation to a more raw, structural self-examination. It is a sonically layered yet emotionally unvarnished statement, solidifying his role as a crucial chronicler of contemporary British life and its attendant anxieties.
