Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut album by Jamaican dub poet Mutabaruka, 'Check It!' sets his Rastafari-inflected verse against the roots guitar of Earl "Chinna" Smith across twelve tracks. It includes 'Everytime a Ear De Soun', his Jamaican hit single with Smith, alongside 'Whiteman Country' and 'Angola Invasion'. Mutabaruka had come to international attention through his Reggae Sunsplash performance in 1981, the first of several appearances at the festival.
