Album Notes & Community Reviews

Shedding their signature reverb-drenched Americana aesthetic, the Kentucky quintet's fifth album is a wildly eclectic, highly polarizing stylistic detour. The record prominently features Jim James experimenting with Prince-inspired falsetto vocals, heavy funk basslines, and bizarre, synthesized R&B grooves alongside more traditional Southern rock anthems. The sheer unpredictability and genre-hopping nature of the release sparked intense debate among their fanbase.
