Album Notes & Community Reviews

Collaborating with the Count Basie Orchestra鈥攖hough Basie himself was contractually prevented from playing piano on the session鈥攖he legendary vocalist delivers a fiercely swinging, blues-oriented set. The massive, brassy arrangements orchestrated by Dave Cavanaugh perfectly complement the singer's incredibly relaxed, rhythmic phrasing. The album is a brilliant, high-energy return to his deeply rooted jazz foundations.
