Released independently after a five-year hiatus, the Canadian pop star teamed up with St. Vincent producer John Congleton to craft an eclectic, indie-leaning alt-pop record. Eschewing the massive hip-hop and R&B production of her peak commercial years, the album focuses on quirky synthpop arrangements and highly personal, bittersweet songwriting. It represents a conscious, artistic reinvention for the seasoned vocalist.
