Desertshore

On 'Desertshore', Nico’s funereal harmonium and distinctively bleak, teutonic vocals are paired with co-producer John Cale's austere, avant-garde arrangements of piano and strings. The album's eight compositions evoke a desolate, cinematic, and medieval atmosphere, functioning in part as a soundtrack to Philippe Garrel's film 'The Inner Scar' and establishing a foundational text for the emerging gothic rock subculture.
