Nilsson Sings Newman

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Setting aside his own acclaimed songwriting, the idiosyncratic vocalist dedicated an entire project to interpreting the acerbic, deeply melodic catalog of Randy Newman, who provides the sole piano accompaniment. The profoundly intimate interplay between Newman's sparse playing and Nilsson's astonishingly complex, overdubbed vocal choirs created an absolute masterclass in pop interpretation.
