Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded in Belgium with producer Creed Taylor, this project was famously a contentious experience for the High Priestess of Soul, who distanced herself from its smooth, reggae-tinged production. Despite the discord, Simone's vocal interpretations of material by Randy Newman and Hall & Oates carry undeniable gravitas. The subtle string arrangements provide a lush backing to her ever-poignant delivery.
