Album Notes & Community Reviews
Documenting Simone accompanied by her own working trio, this Colpix Records release seamlessly merged stark piano blues with sophisticated jazz standards. Her commanding instrumental technique and deeply emotive vocal delivery breathed profound, melancholic life into both traditional work songs and Oscar Brown Jr. compositions.
