Album Notes & Community Reviews

On her second release for RCA Victor, the fiercely uncompromising pianist and vocalist delivered a powerful, remarkably diverse collection of civil rights anthems and soulful pop covers. The album perfectly balances the joyful, infectious groove of 'It Be's That Way Sometime' with the intense, historically vital social commentary of 'I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free'. It is a stunning display of her unparalleled emotional range and political conviction.
