Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a distinct departure from the acoustic jazz and country influences of her earlier triumphs, the celebrated singer-songwriter adopts a grittier, guitar-driven sound under the guidance of producer Jacquire King. Heavily inspired by the dissolution of a long-term relationship, the songwriting is unusually introspective, melancholic, and rhythmically varied. The project successfully redefined her artistic parameters for the following decade.
