Album Notes & Community Reviews

The original Broadway cast recording of the MacDermot, Ragni and Rado score was recorded at RCA Victor's New York studios on 6 May 1968, a week after the production opened at the Biltmore Theatre, and won the 1969 Grammy Award for Best Score from an Original Cast Show Album. It spent thirteen weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 in 1969, sold nearly three million copies in the United States by that December, and was later selected for the Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
