Album Notes & Community Reviews
By the time of this album the Cienfuegos charanga founded by Orestes Arag贸n in 1939 was led by violinist Rafael Lay and fronted by the flute of Richard Eg眉es, whose phrasing defined its sound. Two years earlier the band had worked with composer Enrique Jorr铆n to shape the cha-cha-ch谩 from the danz贸n, and this LP carried the new rhythm to a continental audience.
