Album Notes & Community Reviews

Applying his flawless technique and deep, swinging sensibility to George Gershwin's iconic folk opera, the pianist delivers a brilliant instrumental trio session. Supported by Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen, the arrangements navigate the sweeping emotional arcs of the score without losing the spontaneous, interactive energy of small-group jazz. It is a vital, highly celebrated entry in the pianist's extensive catalog of songbook recordings.
