This Is Oscar Peterson

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Providing a critical look at his formative years, this compilation gathers early Canadian sessions recorded before his monumental association with Norman Granz. Oscar Peterson displays jaw-dropping keyboard pyrotechnics, heavily utilizing the driving rhythms of boogie-woogie and stride piano. The recordings reveal the raw, unbridled energy of a prodigy rapidly transitioning toward modern jazz sophistication.
